A Year in Review : REdefining Parenting in 2025

by Noriko Abenojar
Dec 18, 2025

Before I take a short winter break, I want to send you this message.

For those of you I have not met in person, I trust that you’ve been doing what the parents in our Parenting Redefined community do so well:

  • showing up
  • learning
  • finding your way through the messy, meaningful moments of raising your unique child

It takes a committed and thoughtful parent to sign up and read the articles throughout the year, and I look forward to more connection points in 2026.

For my Social and Cognitive Learning Center parents, I DID see you.

  • You were gritty, tenacious, and vulnerable.
  • I saw the effort, the patience, the tears, and the breakthroughs that only come from your deep commitment to your kids and your family.

For all parents:

  • You’ve done the work that isn’t often visible, but it’s the kind that changes the trajectory of your child’s life.
  • You had days that stretched you and moments that softened you.
  • Days when you were so proud you started with connection first — and nights when you watched your child sleeping, with feelings of regret.
  • Times you weren’t sure what to do — and others where you saw something new click for your child.
  • You did the quiet, powerful work of building trust and connection — the foundation to friendship and emotional development.
  • All of that is growth. For both of you.

So before this year closes, please take a moment to notice:

✨ What did you understand about your child this year that you didn’t before?
✨ What helped you stay steady when things got hard?
✨ Where did you grow right alongside them?

I'd love to hear your reflections!
You can reply directly to this email and tell me your answers — I read every message.

I’ll be back in the new year, ready to share more and to connect with even more of you in 2026. This community means the world to me, and I’m so grateful you’re part of it.

NORIKO'S NOTES: sharing my life's simple joys💜

2025 was a big year for me over here!

As I reflect on the year myself, I’m grateful for how much this work and this community have grown — and I’m excited for what we’ll build together in 2026.

Thank you for letting me share my simple joy💜.

Is Spring Affecting Your Child’s Mood and Friendships?
Around this time of year, some parents start noticing small changes in their children. Bedtime becomes harder. Emotions can feel unpredictable. Friendships can feel a little more complicated. Energy is up and down.  And sometimes the explanation is seasonal. Spring brings several changes that can affect children’s nervous system, which in turn affects how they function socially. 1. Sleep sh...
When Play Levels Up, Friendships Follow
*I am using an example of kids 'playing' but this also applies for older kids or adults. Often, play can look great on the outside. Two kids are talking. They are laughing. They are doing something near each other. That is a good start.   But if you slow down and take a closer look, you might notice something important. You want to dig deeper by asking: Are they truly interacting with each o...
Growth Moves at the Speed of Trust
Recently, I was nominated to be featured in Bold Journey. I’ll share the link again below, but first I want to tell you about a moment that has stayed with me all these years. As I was answering the questions, I found myself thinking about it again.   Back in 2010, my first year I opened Social and Cognitive Learning Center, I met a 3 year old who wasn’t quite sure about me yet. In my mind, I...
