Happy New Year!

~ Scroll down for your Friendship Readiness Calendar, free for you, the Parenting REdefined community for a limited time ~

I hope your 2026 is off to a good start, easing back into routines and feeling a little more grounded after the holidays.

As we step into the new year, I want to pause and re-emphasize the heart behind Parenting REdefined:
To empower you — the parent — with tools, education, and community so you can confidently guide your child’s friendship growth.

Because friendships and social confidence don't begin in big, social moments.

It begins with small, everyday moments; moments that build emotional regulation, connection, flexibility, and confidence, WHILE HAVING FUN.

Your daily interactions, the way you model calm, invite play, and talk about feelings:  all shape your child’s ability to form and keep friendships outside the home.

AND...I'm excited to share something new I created.

It is a 2026 calendar I made with YOU in mind - Busy parents who care deeply about their child's social and emotional growth.

Each week, you’ll get a quick-win prompt designed to fit into everyday moments at home.

These tiny shifts help you support your child’s emotional regulation, self-awareness, confidence, and connection — the foundation for friendship readiness.

Heads up: I’m updating platforms soon, so the site may be offline at times — grab it now or just email me if you have any difficulty.

You will also notice some changes to my website in the next few days/weeks. Feel free to reach out to me if you notice any information you want to access that you no longer see on my new site.

Here’s to a year of small moments that make a big difference 💜

NORIKO'S NOTES: sharing my life's simple joys💜

I had a great two weeks away from SCLC for winter break. Family time with both kids home from college...it doesn't get better than that!

But the 100% truth is that I did do A LOT of work on my Parenting REdefined programs...maybe more than I care to admit LOL...but this work feeds my soul.

...and I got my end-of-year summary from Spotify. It knows me too well — apparently, I’m almost 20 years more immature than my actual age.

That sounds about right 😂

Thank you for letting me share my simple joy💜.

When Summer Builds Real-Life Skills
As you start mapping out camps, vacations, and childcare, this is also the perfect time to intentionally build a few real-life skills into your summer rhythm. I want to share something I did when my kids were younger. I picked two weeks each summer and called it “Mommy Camp”. This did not necessarily mean I took two weeks off work.Sometimes I was working. Sometimes I wasn’t.What changed was my ...
Is Spring Affecting Your Child’s Mood and Friendships?
Around this time of year, some parents start noticing small changes in their children. Bedtime becomes harder. Emotions can feel unpredictable. Friendships can feel a little more complicated. Energy is up and down.  And sometimes the explanation is seasonal. Spring brings several changes that can affect children’s nervous system, which in turn affects how they function socially. 1. Sleep sh...
When Play Levels Up, Friendships Follow
*I am using an example of kids 'playing' but this also applies for older kids or adults. Often, play can look great on the outside. Two kids are talking. They are laughing. They are doing something near each other. That is a good start.   But if you slow down and take a closer look, you might notice something important. You want to dig deeper by asking: Are they truly interacting with each o...
